All transfer students are scheduled for a two-hour session during Laptop Orientation.
This session will take place Thursday, August 6 from 1-3 p.m.
July 29 Update
During this time, the health and safety of our students are vital. We are continually evaluating our process to maintain that health and safety.
Therefore, given the number of students who will be coming on campus for laptop orientation, we require that all students complete an initial screening form at home before being allowed to participate in their laptop orientation.
Answering these questions truthfully will allow all participants to receive the needed evaluation to return to campus safely. Doing so also will help prevent other students and educators from being put at risk for contracting the COVID-19 virus or causing the quarantine of some individuals or possibly an entire group of students.
The screening questions should be answered the day that the student is scheduled to come on campus, and we ask if the answer is YES to any of the questions that you keep your student at home and notify us that they will need to reschedule their laptop orientation.
When students come on campus, they will be screened outside on the piazza, asked some screening questions, and will also have their temperature taken using a contactless thermometer.
We will also have plenty of hand sanitizer available when they enter the building and in their classrooms.
An email was sent to each transfer parent and student's email with the assigned date and time to come to campus for his or her Laptop Orientation.
We have intentionally grouped students who will be new to Gibbons this year together and during the session they will be working with a Gibbons Educator and some of our current students.
We have limited opportunities outside of these dates for students who are unable to attend during their assigned session due to being out of town or other conflict that can’t be avoided. Please contact Ms. Sarah Kuszaj at email@example.com by Wednesday July 22 to be assigned to a makeup session.
What do you need to bring?
- One mask for each student.
- A water bottle if you would like. There will be some time spent outside the building.
- A spirit and openness to meet other people and participate in activities to introduce you to your laptop and other students.
What do you need to wear?
Dress Code: Bring your most fashionable mask. It’s summer outside so shorts, t-shirts, flip flops, crocs and chacos are welcome. It maybe cooler inside the building so you might want to bring something long sleeve as well. Summer Camp dress code. Let’s aim for covered shoulders for boys and girls.
Where will drop off be? And pick up?
In the front of the school, in the piazza.
Please also check the Freshman Laptop Orientation post at www.kkobangsi.com/classof2024 and the school calendar at www.kkobangsi.com/calendar for any general changes or updates affecting this event before you come to campus.
If you have any questions about anything regarding the session itself, please email Ms. Kuszaj.
We’re so excited to have you on campus and look forward to working with you!
